SELECT WHERE THE QUALITY OR QUANTITY
Is simply the quantity can be interpreted as the weight, mass, or number. While the quality is that it can be viewed as a quality, value ke'bagus'an. Quality can be measured directly with a vision such as chicken a reddish-colored good or a sprinter who never won an Olympic gold medal. The quality of both of the above can we value the vision, perception, and also our understanding that formed either alone or understanding invested by others.
If you are told to choose, what would you choose? How do these two things if we connect with the world of education?
This case I found myself at the university and my faculty, FTI-SWCU. FTI itself is a newly established faculty in 2003, and now entered the ranks of big three faculty with the most students (actually I do not know). Maybe it was triggered because the IT needs of a very necessary at this time. As an educational institution under the university, the FTI is responsible for providing education. That how? Of the QUALITY! So if during this FTI did not make a quality education? Not exactly. Implementation of education is also influenced by the active participation of students (see Respect Lecture).
What matters is the ratio of the number of students with a number of faculty FTI. Ratio which in my opinion it is too far, adversely affecting the implementation of learning activities.
Faculty that the number of students abundant, is seen as a favorite faculty. I am impressed with FTI effort to attract prospective students. But these efforts must be coupled with an increased absolute and following the teaching quality support facilities.
The impact that I felt when the number of students increases:
1. Classes are opened more and more, teachers must work extra.
2. Schedule lab usage. increasingly crowded.
3. Dense schedule lab usage. reduce treatment time computer
4. Schedule lab usage. a solid lead lab settings. chaotic.
5. Many classes are empty since the professor did not come, maybe longer participate promotion.
6. Students who schedule a collision, as if it is left.
Six of the above represents a small portion of the many things that I feel as victims of 'capitalism' faculty. Why not be limited only the number of students. One force of at least a hundred people, it's enough. By reducing the number of students per class so that the focus of the higher faculty, the quality can be improved. Quality can be a non-'duit promotional tool "for faculty. Given the strict restrictions on the number of students and the quality of higher education, faculty can be run essentially in the education world clearly. Given the limited amount of acceptance, prospective students will be more challenged to compete inside.
Number of students do not become a good measure of the faculty or university. The main benchmark is the quality of output. FTI-SWCU big responsibility towards the workforce that will be sent out into the real world. FTI-SWCU responsible SWCU maintain a good reputation in the community. FTI graduates not to be embarrassed in public.
A plate of vegetable origin is enough eaten with joy. Few students are taught long enough with joy. So choose where, quality or quantity?
